Maldives Looks to Boost Tourism, Trade Ties with Oman
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel met with his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi on Tuesday and discussed ways to increase cooperation in tourism and trade between the two countries.
Maldives’ top diplomat who is on a two day official visit to the Sultanate, described the meeting with Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi as “productive” in a post on X.
“We expressed commitment to deepening Maldives-Oman historic ties and exploring cooperation in key areas such as trade, tourism, education and investment,” Minister Khaleel said.
In addition, he said the discussions also included exploring avenues for joint efforts in advancing people-to-people exchanges to sustain the growing partnership between the two countries.
The foreign ministry had said earlier that during the visit on the invitation of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Minister Dr Khaleel will hold meetings with senior dignitaries of the Omani Government to explore opportunities to enhance collaboration in various sectors between the two countries, including trade and investment promotion.
