President Vows to Back Local Councils in Economic Ventures

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday extended the government’s full support to local councils in implementing economic ventures.

The President made the pledge during his sit-down with the island council and the Women’s Development Committee of Rasdhoo island as part of his ongoing two-day visit to several islands in the Alifu Alifu and Kaafu Atolls.

During the meeting, the council shared information on the most pressing issues for the development of the island, including the need to protect the island’s most vulnerable area facing erosion, build an additional 50 housing units and the lack of availability of ice to fishermen.

Despite the concerns, members of the council expressed appreciation for the government’s housing policy.

During the meeting, the President said that he would put in every effort to address the issues raised by the council and the pledges he had made to the island.

In addition, the President encouraged the council to propose ventures beneficial to the island’s economy and vowed to extend the government’s full cooperation to its successful implementation.
