Road development studies concludes in Male’ and Vilimale’
Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has revealed that the assessment of road conditions of Male’ City and Villimale’ has concluded. The assessments were conducted by an expert team appointed by the Chinese government. This initiative follows an agreement signed between the governments of China and the Maldives during the official visit of the Maldivian President to China, on July 23. The road development in Male’ and Vilimale’ will be funded through grants from the Chinese government. This initiative includes paving city roads and enhancing water and sewerage systems, electrical infrastructure, storm water management, and fire hydrants. Following the agreement, the assessments the road conditions commenced on November 5. The ministry revealed that the expert team appointed by China, worked in collaboration with the ministry’s technical team to perform the feasibility study of the roads of both Male’ City and Villimale’. This primary objective of this project is to upgrade the deteriorating road conditions to modern standards, providing significant benefits to the citizens. The next phase will be the designing stage of the project. The government anticipates to complete this significant developmental initiative within three or four years.
