President Muizzu Assures Action on Meedhoo’s Development Priorities

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has vowed to address key concerns raised by Meedhoo Council, Raa Atoll, during a meeting with the island’s Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC). The meeting was held as part of the President’s ongoing visit to several islands of Raa Atoll.

During the discussion, members of Meedhoo Council conveyed the developmental needs of the island community to the President, emphasising the need for initiating the development of its harbour, addressing space constraints at the Island Health Centre, and the need for a Dhanaal , an on-campus student accommodation facility. In addition, they requested that the uninhabited island of Thavaathaa be included within Meedhoo’s jurisdiction.

Addressing the concerns, the President assured the council that the issues highlighted would be reviewed and addressed.

Accompanying the President, Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials also provided insights into the government’s developmental plans for Meedhoo.
