President Declares 2 January as Government Holiday
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared Thursday, 2 January, 2025 as a Government holiday. The declaration was announced by the President’s Office.
The decision aims to provide Government employees with an uninterrupted break, extending the New Year holiday.
While 1 January, 2025, a public holiday on the occasion of the New Year, falls on a Wednesday, the additional holiday on Thursday will allow for a continuous period of rest leading into the weekend, the President’s Office said.
