President calls for youth empowerment through a deeper understanding of Islam and Maldivian identity
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised that empowerment of the nation’s youth requires a proper understanding of Islam and Maldivian identity in a way that resonates with their mindset. During a morning ceremony at Dharubaaruge, he made these remarks to commemorate the day the Maldives embraced Islam.
The President stressed the importance of conveying the facts of Maldivian history and the country’s enduring independence in a manner that young people can quickly grasp. He added that Islamic values and Maldivian national identity must be woven into everyday life to achieve this goal entirely.
Furthermore, the President highlighted the need to ensure that every young person, regardless of gender, is equipped to advocate for the nation and contribute to its development. He underscored the importance of nurturing the moral and spiritual well-being of the younger generation.
In his address, the President outlined three key points: the representation of Muslims in Islam and the Holy Quran, un-Islamic practices in contemporary Maldivian society, and how we should align our actions to reform these issues.The Maldives commemorates the day it embraced Islam annually on the 2nd day of Rabi’ul Akhir.
