President appreciates India’s commitment to support Maldives’ development
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended gratitude for India’s commitment to support Maldives’ development initiatives. These remarks were made during India’s High Commissioner Munu Mahawar’s farewell call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu expressed his sincere appreciation for the high commissioner’s efforts to strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between the Maldives and India. He emphasised that the high commissioner’s tenure coincided with a pivotal phase in Maldives-India relations, during which the friendship and bilateral cooperation between the nations experienced significant revitalisation.
Meanwhile, High Commissioner Munu Mahawar reaffirmed India’s commitment to continue supporting the development of the Maldives. He lauded President Dr. Muizzu’s leadership and collaborative approach, noting that it had played a key role in addressing shared challenges and further strengthened the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu and the high commissioner reflected on the president’s recent state visit to India in October. During this visit, Maldives and India agreed on A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership, which eventually laid the groundwork for elevating the existing development partnership. Both leaders highlighted the progress being made through India’s generous commitments and assistance in implementing economic reforms and improving social welfare in the Maldives. They also expressed confidence in the ability of both countries to maintain the positive trajectory established and to ensure the timely completion of agreed initiatives, and discussed the potential for expanding avenues of cooperation in the future.
Moreover, President Dr. Muizzu extended his best wishes to the high commissioner for his future endeavours. He also expressed his eagerness to continue advancing the development partnership with the incoming high commissioner.
