MNU and MPAO Sign Agreement to Promote Research and Awareness

The Maldives National University (MNU) has signed an agreement with the Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) to conduct scientific research and pension awareness programs in the Maldives.

The agreement was signed by MNU’s Vice Chancellor Dr Aishath Shehenaz Adam and MPAO’s Chief Executive Officer Shujatha Haleem at a ceremony held at MNU on Thursday.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on joint research projects as well as information exchange. Awareness programmes to educate the public on pension will also be conducted under the agreement.

According to MNU, the agreement will foster growth and development for both parties, while also creating valuable opportunities for the community.

A pension refers to the funds accumulated for use after an individual reaches old age or retires. Pension also includes state benefits for the elderly who do not have a source of income. The Pension Office in responsible for managing the pension schemes established under the Pension Act, and also makes regulations on pensions and works on raising awareness about pensions.

MNU is currently working on expanding its research programmes and has been signing agreements with different entities to conduct research and provide training. The university conducts important research on areas critical to the development of the Maldives.
