Maritime, Aviation Development Key to Tourism Growth, says MACL Chief
The growth of the tourism sector is dependent on the joint efforts of the maritime and aviation sectors, Managing Director of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said Thursday. Shareef made these remarks during a meeting with tourism and aviation stakeholders.
The Managing Director of MACL highlighted the key achievements in the sector so far at the Aviation and Travel Industry Stakeholder Meeting.
Noting that Maldives is set to meet the two million tourists target later this month, Shareef hailed the record achievement on the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders of the industry.
Pointing out that the number of airlines and routes flying to the Maldives is swiftly increasing, Shareef said ever-growing cargo services are helping the island nation to maintain its place as a premier holiday destination for tourists.
He said Maldives’ successes in the tourism industry are the result of hard work done in collaboration with the aviation industry. The future growth of the industry depends on the joint efforts of the aviation and maritime industries, Shareef added.
Shareef also shared information on the extensive efforts that are underway to strengthen and enhance airport operations and provide better services to tourists.
He noted the improvement of service quality through technology with the development of more infrastructure.
The event organised by MACL was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, tourism industry associations and representatives of airlines operating flights to the Maldives.
