Maldives Receives 50 Tonnes of Dates from Saudi Arabia
The government has received 50 metric tonnes of dates donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan. The announcement was made by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
The Minister confirmed that the dates have been brought to the Maldives and assured the public that the Ministry will distribute them to each household before Ramadan begins. Each year, the Saudi government makes a donation of dates to the Maldives in anticipation of Ramadan.
In addition to individual household distributions, a portion of the dates will be allocated to local organisations that plan to hold Iftar programmes, Minister Saeed revealed. The dates donated by the Saudi government are distributed under the supervision of the Islamic Affairs Ministry.
