First Taxi Driver Training Programme of the Year Launched in Male’
This year’s first training and refresher program for taxi drivers has been launched in Male’ City.
The training programme, which is conducted serially, aims to familiarise new and seasoned taxi drivers with the land transport laws and regulations.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) said the program will cover information on the Land Transport Act, as well as the role of drivers in situations arising from accidents or other road incidents. The programme will also provide instructions on how drivers should behave in such circumstances.
This training, organised by MPS’s Road Safety Awareness and Prevention, will run from 12 January to 15 January, with a total of 309 drivers participating in the programme.
The programme is conducted in four rounds throughout the year, and is a regulatory requirement that taxi drivers have to complete when applying for a taxi license.
