Aminath Sarahath Izzath, Mohamed Abdulla Appointed to MBC
The Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC), the regulatory body for broadcasting services, has announced the appointments of Aminath Sarahath Izzath and Mohamed Abdulla. The MBC is charged with the role of ensuring that all broadcasting operations within the country adhere to governmental laws and regulations.
According to the MBC, the appointments of Izzath and Abdulla were confirmed on 20 January. These appointments follow Parliament’s approval on 16 January. Parliament, in its deliberations on the nominations, endorsed Izzath with 68 votes, while Abdulla received 58 votes.
Izzath brings invaluable experience as she returns to her former role within the commission. Abdulla previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Ihavandhoo Constituency. These appointments are set against the backdrop of the completed terms of former MBC President, Mariam Waheeda, and commission member, Ali Yoosuf.
