ACC Pursues Prosecution of ex-Fenaka Officials, as Case Filed Against Former Managing Director
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has stated that discussions are ongoing regarding how to proceed with prosecution against former officials of Fenaka Corporation Limited over serious accusations against them.
ACC’s statement comes while criminal charges have been raised against Fenaka’s former Managing Director Ahmed Saeed Mohamed and another top official of the corporation.
ACC noted that in addition to the case being tried in court, several other serious allegations against the officials are currently being investigated. Discussions are ongoing with the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) regarding seeking charges in these cases.
Criminal charges are being pursued against Fenaka’s former MD Saeed and former Procurement Head Maryam Dheena Solih over an agreement between the Fenaka and a company named Blazon Inc Pvt Ltd. According to the ACC’s investigation, Fenaka made payments to the company with the intention of providing undue benefit to a company while the work assigned to them remained incomplete. Payments were allegedly released without verifying the completion of the work, resulting in a loss of over USD 58,000 for Fenaka.
The duty prosecution stage of the case has now been completed and referred to the PGO for formal charges. The case was officially filed at the Criminal Court by the PGO on Thursday, under Article 513, b) of the Penal Code, for misuse of government authority to obtain a benefit.
ACC has instructed the recovery of the funds disbursed to Blazon Inc Pvt Ltd.
