Gov’t announces modernization and rebranding of Maldives Polytechnic
The Minister of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development, Dr. Maryam Mariya has stated that the Maldives Polytechnic will undergo modernization and rebranding. She made the remarks on a special programme of PSM News aired to mark the first anniversary of the government.
Explaining that the polytechnic currently lacks the necessary facilities to provide a conducive learning environment for today’s youth, the Minister emphasized that the modernization efforts would begin soon. She stated that the institution must be further developed to offer a more engaging and technologically advanced space for students. The current teaching methods, she noted, are outdated, and there is a need for the incorporation of modern tools and online learning opportunities to enhance the educational experience.
The Maldives Polytechnic, established by the government to provide vocational training and skilled workforce development, offers education in various fields ranging from certificate to diploma levels. The polytechnic’s campuses are also being expanded to different regions of the country to better serve the needs of young people seeking job-ready skills.
